“Jim’s music is obviously great stuff. Well played, a good variety of tunes, and plenty of heat generated" Scott Yanow - Jazz Writer
“Jim’s guitar sound is just the authentic thing. I love it, it’s deep, fat and warm, an incredible sound. Great guitar playing and compositions.” Jazz guitarist Telmo Fernandez
Born in Oceanport, New Jersey in 1968, Jim got his first guitar at eleven on a day trip to Nogales, Mexico and he hasn’t put it down yet.
Jim has played and/or recorded with a who’s who of jazz greats including bassist Larry Ridley, saxophonist Jimmy Heath, trumpeter Michael Mossman, pianists Jeb Patton and Jim Ridl and organist Brian Charette and has had the great fortune to study with jazz legends Pat Martino, Ted Dunbar, Kenny Barron, Tony Purrone and Rodney Jones. Jim has played at Lincoln Center, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The New Jersey Performing Arts Center and various festivals and clubs.
He holds a master’s degree in music performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where in 1998 under the tutelage of Sir Roland Hanna, Jim was the first student to record his original jazz in the Queens College recording studio.
